On Tuesday, March 10 from 12:00-1:00, thought leaders from in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine will discuss the state of Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) in northern New England. LTSS includes a broad range of supportive services and supports provided by professionals (formal care) as well as unpaid care provided by family and friends (informal care). Formal of informal LTSS assist individuals living with disability or chronic disease perform routine daily activities. The goal of LTSS is to allow people to maintain their best possible health and well-being. Although we have seen remarkable increases in the healthy lifespan of the population, most of us will need at least some care during our lives. Is northern New England in a good position to provide the services that people need? What is the role of lifelong communities in providing LTSS? How are age-friendly organizations recruiting LTSS workers to meet the growing need? The conversation will be facilitated by our very own Jess Maurer. Our guests will be Angela Smith-Dieng, the director of the State Unit on Aging in the Adult Services Division at the State of Vermont Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living; Laura Davie, Director of Long Term Care and Aging and Co-Director of the Center on Aging and Community Living at the University of New Hampshire College of Health and Human Services; and Elizabeth Gattine, Senior Policy Associate, Disability and Aging Program, Cutler Institute, University of Southern Maine. And, of course, our most important guests–YOU. Come prepared to ask questions and share your experiences working with LTSS.
